RoHS, WEEE, REACH plus IMDS

Technibond are committed to ensuring that our tapes are as environmentally friendly as possible.  This not only helps the environment but also our customers, who can be assured that the products purchased from us comply with the latest regulations.

RoHS

The Restriction of Hazdardous  Substances (RoHS) Directive (2002/95/EC) took effect in 2006.  It restricts the use of six hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment,  these are lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ether.

WEEE

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive (2002/96/EC) is very closely linked with RoHS and ensures waste from electrical and electronic goods is disposed of safely.

Technibond’s double sided adhesive tapes all conform to the RoHS & WEEE directives. They do not contain any of the prohibited substances.

REACH

The Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of Chemicals (REACH – Regulation EC 1907/2006) is probably the most complex legislation in the European Union’s history.  It is designed to control the import and manufacture of chemical substances and in particular work towards the reduction and replacement of substances of very high concern. The scope of these regulations is subject to some interpretation, but to the best of our knowledge our tapes do not contain any of the substances of very high concern as described in the REACH regulations. We continually monitor this situation with our suppliers.

We have reviewed our range of double and single sided tapes, all of which are defined as Articles under the regulations.  We expect all the substances used in the manufacture of our products to be pre-registered by ourselves or our suppliers.

None of our current double sided tapes contain substances of intended release or substances of very high concern concern (SVHC).

IMDS

The International Material Data System (IMDS) is a database used by automotive manufacturers to manage the environmental relevant aspects of the parts used in their vehicles.   The system allows a complete inventory of the materials used to make the parts for the vehicle, to be listed.   This ensures the use of hazardous substances is minimised or eliminated where possible.

Technibond has its own listing on IMDS and we have registered many of our products on the IMDS database.
